A profitable owner-managed business operating through an existing European structure.
Company owner cutting corporate tax
Taking an owner-managed business from up to 30% to 10% corporate tax.
The owner of a profitable, owner-managed business looking for a competitive EU base they could genuinely operate from.
Situation
Why the existing tax position no longer made sense.
Company profits were taxed at corporate rates of up to 30% in the home country. As the business became more profitable, the cost of remaining in the existing structure became increasingly difficult to justify.
The tax cost rose with profitability, while the existing jurisdiction no longer offered a practical advantage.
A competitive EU base the owner could genuinely operate from, without creating a paper-only structure.
What we did
One move, sequenced around how the business actually operated.
We reviewed where the business was managed, how revenue was generated and what had to move for the new structure to be credible. We then formed the Bulgarian company, transitioned banking and brought ongoing accounting and filings into the same delivery model.
The business moved to a Bulgarian operating base and the corporate rate fell to 10%.
The new structure reduced the annual tax bill by more than €140,000 while keeping the company inside the EU and aligning the structure with where the owner was actually operating the business.
