He was living in Germany and operating the business through an existing European structure.
European founder moving to Bulgaria
Taking a software business from 30% to 10% tax
Founder of a software business operating almost entirely online, with customers across Europe and no operational need to remain based in Germany.
Situation
Why the existing setup stopped making sense.
The founder was living in Germany and running the business through an existing European structure, with an effective corporate tax burden of around 30%.
As the company had grown, the cost of remaining in the existing setup had become increasingly difficult to justify.
He wanted to relocate personally and move the business without disrupting customers, contracts or day-to-day operations.
What we did
One transition, coordinated around the business that was already running.
We reviewed the existing company, the founder’s personal circumstances and how the business was actually being operated before mapping out the move to Bulgaria. We coordinated the Bulgarian company setup, residency, banking and the transition of the operating business, with the move structured around existing contracts and payment flows so the company could continue trading throughout.
The business continues operating in Germany while the company structure and banking are based in Bulgaria.
The founder relocated to Bulgaria and the business now operates through a Bulgarian company subject to the country’s 10% corporate tax rate, while continuing to serve customers and operate commercially in Germany. The company structure and banking are based in Bulgaria, and the transition was completed without interrupting contracts, payments or day-to-day operations.
This is an anonymised individual client outcome, not a promise or typical result. The client’s effective pre-move corporate tax burden was around 30%; Germany’s combined corporate burden varies by municipality. Tax, residency and banking outcomes depend on the facts, applicable law and provider approval.
